DetailsThe use of Glass Fibre-Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) bars for internally reinforcing concrete structures has been growing to overcome common problems of steel reinforcement, such as corrosion. Areas for application are dominated by bridge decks where de-icing salts are used, although other applications include coastal structures or structures aiming for an extended design life.
DetailsThis years Master Builders Excellence in Construction Awards saw Airey Taylor win multiple awards for recent engineering projects throughout the Perth Metropolitan area.
The awards were held on Saturday, 25 July at a gala function at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, attended by a record crowd of over 730 industry representatives and guests.
Protimeter Revisited for Large Scale Damp Investigations By: Dr ANTHEA AIREY BSc(Hons) PhD MBA MRACI CChem – Project Leader, Scientific Services – Airey Taylor Consulting Summary: Damp in structures precedes eventual rusting. “Protimeter Survey-master” is a non- destructive testing instrument favoured by building inspectors assessing bathroom leaks and the like. The Protimeter measures the reflected radio…
DetailsThis paper discusses mechanisms of corrosion found in plant rooms as published in the project profile “Problems with Plant Rooms” in the October 2010 issue of Corrosion & Materials with additional details of the electropotential surveys and other case materials.
DetailsA “green” philosophical learning point is to harness and enhance natural responses to structures as part of the design and construct approach. An original engineering design system is explored that looks to the environment to identify key responses involved in placing concrete slab foundations on reactive clay soils.
DetailsThe Historic Guilford Pub and adjacent land, previously ravaged by fire, are on the road to becoming Perth’s latest residential development alongside a heritage building. Airey Taylor Consulting is very excited to be working on the project that will hopefully become a hub once again for the Guilford community. Read the article below from the West Australian:…
DetailsAirey Taylor Consulting is very excited to announce a resumption of collaboration with the University of Western Australia in the research initiated in 2011 by them on the development of Glass Fibre Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) in concrete. The new area of research is in the use of GFRP under combined bending and axial loads. …
