The initial 20 years of growth within the firm reflected the opportunities arising from Perth’s expansion and diversification. Award winning structures were provided by the firm for some of the city’s most notable and prestigious buildings: QV1 Office Building, Perth Sheraton Hotel, Perth Entertainment Centre (since demolished) to name a few.
Exciting projects including aquatic centres, major sporting and leisure centres and canal development joined this list of winners, developing expertise in a wide range of advanced engineering design. During this period, original research into clay-based foundations was also successfully developed and patented.
Thirty years on, with the resources boom and unprecedented growth in the State, the potential for originality and innovation in engineering design is paramount. Intellectual boundaries are consistently pushed, as design responses are sought for increasingly complex structures. Airey Taylor’s consistent response is to provide an outstanding level of technical expertise to meet this need, winning awards for unique and prestigious projects like the National award-winning State Theatre Centre, Northbridge.
Today, the firm of Airey Taylor Consulting meets a huge range of design criteria with a strongly research- orientated approach delivering cutting edge solutions. An addition of a PHD chemist and a Scientific Division has added a successful Forensic Engineering component in chemical and materials testing, with active sponsorship and employment of graduate research at University of Western Australia.
The future is exciting and full of promise.
