Guildford Hotel – 2017 MBA nomination for Best Commercial Building under $5 million to Iconic Design & Construction
The iconic Guildford Hotel has been nominated for the national Best Commercial Building constructed under $5 million for Ultimo Design and Construction who also won the 2017 Master Builders – Bankwest Excellence in Construction Awards BEST NEW BUILDER category (under 5 years) Congratulations to Ultimo and good luck in the National Awards.
Airey Taylor Consulting completed the Structural Engineering on this project which undertook a 2 year restoration process after it was leased to the Publican Group in 2013. The Guildford Hotel has a lot of history in the Perth community and the whole building was carefully renovated to hero the heritage features and blend it with a new, contemporary feel.
The hotel’s original features have been displayed throughout the bar and it’s rooms, as a reminder of it’s history dating back to the 1880’s. Included in this is the replica of the original belvedere, built to the specifications found in a 1914 watercolour drawing of the hotel.
