Caterpillar Maintenance Facilities for Westrac, Western Australian and New South Wales

Airey Taylor Consulting provided Civil and Structural Engineering services for the maintenance facilities for Caterpillar equipment supplied by Westrac for use in Australian mines. These projects required the design and documentation of heavy duty concrete flooring with the capacity to carry tracked heavy mining equipment and incorporated a 35 tonne capacity crane to handle components of equipment.

Other design details particular to each Westrac project include :

  • Parramatta : inclusion of a wash pad pit to an existing facility
  • Port Hedland : enhancements to existing wash pad facility.
  • Newman : complete structural design of new steel buildings and facilities for 40 tonne overhead cranes. Further designs were created for office enhancements, crane bays and additional vehicle bays.
  • South Guildford : alterations to the site administration building.
  • Kalgoorlie : comprehensive extensions to previous facilities including the addition of a 20 tonne crane.
  • Bunbury : Civil Engineering works associated with car park upgrades.
