The State Theatre Centre of WA (STCWA) is a world class venue for performing arts, located at a prominent corner of the Perth Cultural Centre in Northbridge, Western Australia. Airey Taylor were responsible for the leading edge Structural and Civil components of the 100 year design
The project requirements and constraints imposed real challenges to the structural resolution of the building. Overcoming these challenge required creativity and lateral thinking to provide a simple yet elegant solution to a complex problems. Airey Taylor Consulting offered an elegant, advanced structural engineering resolution to provide 100 year design life for the State Theatre Centre of Western Australia.
The Main Theatre is positioned on top of the Studio Theatre, and the foyers vertically stacked and directly connect to Roe, William and James Streets through a public concourse level. This arrangement has the main concourse, studio theatre and main theatre foyers as a single space separated vertically to minimise the footprint.
