WA Landfill Services Waste Recycling Facility Stage 1, Welshpool

LOCATION:

Welshpool, WA

CLIENT:

SITA

Airey Taylor Consulting provided the design and documentation of pavements and slabs for incorporation in a future roofed waste recycling facility. Design considerations included accommodating the mild acidity of the waste recycling and the loads resulting from large-scale equipment in use including front-end-loaders.

The internal slabs were designed using post-tensioned concrete to eliminate joints and to give greater in-service durability. Sacrificial layers of different coloured concrete was incorporated into the design to be replaced when worn down to the main pavement slab.

Provision for the future incorporation of high level canopy was included in the perimeter design.
