Komatsu Reman Workshop

Airey Taylor Consulting were engaged by Komatsu Australia to assess the suitability of the existing structure of the Reman Workshop for upgrade to the lifting capacities of the cranes to suit augmentation to the production plan within the building.

Due to lack of existing drawings and the amendments and additions made to the facility over its life span, Airey Taylor conducted a comprehensive survey to the facility and a structural adequacy analysis. The analysis revealed some issues with the existing structure and a plan was put forward to the client on the required augmentation to facilitate the lifting capacity increase and addressing the issues identified at the same time.

As the facility is operational and had to adhere to a tight production schedule, minimising the interruption to the production line was a major constraint.

The comprehensively detailed structural design produced the technical support during the implementation of the works and the quality assurance inspections carried out resulted in successful implementation of the task with minimal interruption to the production line.

Civil Engineering services were also provided in the form of alterations to the workshop, main sewer and shed.
