Wagin & Lake Grace Hospital Upgrades, Regional Western Australia

LOCATION:  Lake Grace and Wagin, Western Australia

VALUE: $ 6 M

COLLABORATORS: Department of Finance; Building Management & Works, Holton Connor Architects

COMPLETED : 2015

The refurbishment of the Lake Grace and Wagin hospitals was part of the $108.8 million small hospital and nursing post refurbishment program under the $565 million Southern Inland Health Initiative, funded by the State Government’s Royalties for Regions program.

Construction in Wagin and Lake Grace commenced in December 2014.

Lake Grace Hospital was found to be extensively damaged by inadequate footing selection for a clay profile site (in terms of AS2870 Cat 3 Damage). Remediation for both wings was designed and documented using the Retroclay system of soil moisture stabilisation developed and patented by Airey Taylor Consulting, and their patented permanent internal wall and ceiling remediation system.

Wagin Hospital included the design and documentation of the assessment of the structural status and provision of reverse brief; and provision of minor structural requirements for incorporation in Architectural documentation.
