Situated on the Eastern edge of the Wheatbelt 370 kilometres from Perth, this new Aquatic Centre for the Shire of Yilgarn continues Airey Taylor Consulting’s record of creating significant regional civic facilities that often become the focal point of their communities.
With an attractive design by Donovan Payne Architects, this Centre features a full 25 metre swimming pool with additional wading/childrens’ section under extensive UV shading sails to protect pool visitors from the extreme daytime heat. An additional basketball shooting area and cricket nets cater for local enthusiasm for the sports; along with pool plant, aquatic store, and chemical storage in a nearby plant building. Outdoor furniture emplacements and barbeque areas assist with the creation of family friendly open air spaces that encourage interaction; while the facility also sports a kiosk, staff rooms, staff toilets, and change rooms in a staff and toilet block.
